Personally I think it looks ... interesting ... and am curious if you will end up with your arm tired. Other than that, saying 'they lost it' without having used it makes no sense. Remember, Nintendo created a 'revolution' when they went from Joystick-style (Atari) to D-Pad controller.

True.. But yet.. its not like the controller was the best concept ever for controlling things.. Controllers are actually quite bad, pretty unnatural feeling. And the more buttons the worse. Its horrible to have to search through all the buttons. So far it kinda looks like you can only play sword and baseball games. Shooting and driving games i imageine would just feel uncomfortable with this.

if you like racing games simply close your eyes and press the button harder....or pause and find the hidden buttons for the boost....duh lol......if u like fighting games you can pull off some crazy kick/punch combos....kick...punch...kick...punch...kick...kic k ....ownage lol.... just dont see how theres anywhere near enough room for input on that controller to even seem effective in any games beyond pokemon and supermario bros lol....and yes...nintendo fell off as soon as the word playstation became a household name

Also remember Miyamoto said his next Mario game was going to be a revolution. What IS that mysterious gadget on Marios back that is going to make a revolution?! OOOOH its a super soaker
I can not say how the controller is going to turn out in actual play, but it just "seems" ackward. I guess eventually we will be able to actually give it a test run and see for ourselves.

I actually never got the playstation thing..
This is pure preference but I always got a pre puberty vibe for the system, Allot of the games seem target for 13-15 year olds who still think that beating up a hooker so you dont have to pay is funny. Games like MGS seemed to be a joke when i played them after i played splinter cell. Why the hell would you want to play a stealthy game if you cant move the camera angle, completely unnacceptable. And the games i really wanted to play came out for my Xbox and PC as well. The Xbox seemed more suited twoards my PC background so i seemed to enjoy the games allot more.. Like killswitch, Halo (not obcessively tho) Halo 2 project gothem racing 1 and 2. And others.

personally i prefer the 'chunky' XBox controller (the one the origional release came with) THAT fit in my hand perfectly.
full marks for effort and easthetics though for the revolution.
i reckon the 360 will be the new mother of all consoles

Mmm - did you read the hands on reviews? Most of the reviewers really liked it, and said the Metroid gameplay with the new controller was a lot more intuitive.
Then there is always this: http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/07...s_6129939.html (for the 'Nintendo is about to die')

It hurts my heart to say it, but Nintendo is done in console gaming. I bought the gamecube just because I had never doubted them (I own everyone of their consoles). I wont be buying this one till they prove that I should.
Who can remeber the days when Nintendo ruled the the gaming world?
I can.

What I'm about to say can't be backed up without trying it first-hand.
I think this controller is genius. Imagine sitting back on the couch, relaxing and sipping on a coke with one hand and doing some awesome gaming with the other. That is my idea of relaxation.
Fewer buttons is always good on a controller. I always hate trying to find out where all of these hidden buttons are on my controllers, this will be simple and straightforward.
I also think the expansion port will be used on some of the more demanding games. Its a good way for them to earn much needed money. I just hope the cord is long enough, or that maybe it will eventually be wireless itself. I can just picture myself dual wielding the controllers and totally going all out on any game.
But I'll admit that I am really worried about this. This could either be the greatest controller ever, all praise Nintendo's innovation. Or it would be tied with some of the other flops that have been around in the gaming industry, and so would pass the age of Nintendo's CONSOLES. Remember, if Nintendo can't make a console, they still have the handhelds taken care of.
I am definitely looking forward to this.
EDIT: As a result of learning about the news. Here is my new desktop in all of its glory. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...r/desktop2.jpg

i think most of u are too quick to call the Rev countroller a failure
innovation is needed to make advances, and it'd be ashame if there wasn't Nintendo to pull the gaming industry through the stagnant slump.
(Sony and Microsoft certainly aren't doing it, seeing as to how they're just sticking with the traditional controller... Games aren't always about system specs..)
I'm for one excited to see a new way of gaming in the horizon.
innovations like eye toy made big hits, why cant the Revolution?
and its not like you "have to" use those controller, if u prefer the old ones, you can always plug the NGC controllers in.
or even better yet, nintendo has planned to release "shells" that allows you to plug the remote thing insidea standard controller, this mockup pix will give u an idea:
http://cubemedia.ign.com/cube/image/...026412-000.jpg
the good thing about it is, u get to retain the pointer effect from the remote, which can be used in conjunction with standard buttons to achieve a refreshing controll experience, Madden can certainly utilize this.
And I for one, thinks the Revolution design totally kick both 360 and ps3's asses, the iPod-esque look totally works for me

Yeah im sure the refreshing pointing experience will be wonderfull on my 12 inch TV from the 60's.
I dont doubt that they will find some way to market this system.
These are the people who have enough marketing capability to extend an old crap system to modern day without updating it much at all.. Yes im talking about a gameboy.
The only reason why they need a revolution is because of the shortcomings of the Nintendo GameCube. I doubt its because they want to "revolutionize" the gaming industry, Its either going to work or its not. And i'd put money on that it wont.
I still havent seen anything that can rival the accuracy of a mouse and a keyboard, specifically for FPS games. Im all for new ways of playing games but i doubt that this is going to work.

Yes, but that is just stupid IMO. If they want a good remote go back to the N64. If im playing a console game I want it to require all of me to opperate. Im mean I would fined less then entertaining if I am beating a game while scraching my balls with the other hand.
Wait a second, THATS THEIR SECRET!!! They are hoping to please the male gamer.
hehe j/k
